Serpent of Fire

In 7620bc the fiery serpent circled the sun
Its seven-fold impact course with earth begun
Landing in each and every ocean of the world
Stories of flood, fire & destruction still told
Every race from every place tells of how all displaced
As the waters rose, as day turned to night & froze
All life that was known, ceased, overthrown
Never to return if not for the few
Who through some vision of God knew?
Told to collect mating pairs, seeds & heirs
As the waters receded and the skies cleared
They plant the crops; return animals & insects to the fields
Overturned the destruction that all so feared
Slowly life returned to the tortured lands
Stories of which passed from mouth to hands
Woven into myth & mystery of memories past
So as we would not forget these turbulent times
Important for the youth for us to remind
This most destructive of truths never left behind
4000 years went by then the watchers grew nervous
As they spotted another ball of fire circling out of the sky
Knowing its path they resolved to try
To warm others in rule in their place of palace
So save the knowledge and life of the human race

If you’re willing to pay they have no shame

Back to wouldn’t hurt a fly
Up in northern meditation style
The quest for insight takes another step
With me realizing that I need to prep
To stay with the monks for a full 26 days
Vipassana meditation way
Up a four am with the need to pray
mindfulness to how to sit and walk
No allowance to discuss and talk
Just for one-self this special path
Looking deep inside for truths that last
All based upon the eight tasks
From Buddha with joy we show
For to live as such is to know
To refrain from destroying any living creature
To refrain from taking what is not given
To refrain from any kind of erotic behaviour
To refrain from incorrect speech, not cleaver
To refrain from intoxicating liquor or drugs
To refrain from eating at wrong times as on a whim
To refrain from dancing, singing, music, going to shows
Or wearing garlands & beautifying woes
To refrain from sleeping on high or luxurious beds
If you can abide by these let yourself be led
Our journey inside, no deception, soul fed
Nibbana the place where no-thing hides

A Smile

A smile costs nothing my friend
If another asks something of you
No matter whether you can or can’t do
First reaction should be your smile
Pure & honest a shine of your soul
Showing you care even if you do not need
Thankful to them for plying their trade
Standing all day in road, street or shopping parade
Day in day out they continue their quest
To make a little money so as to get on with the rest
Imagine the feeling at the end of the day
If you seen no smile, no soul interplay
Would not matter if you sold or not
For all you would feel is how your spirit has dropped
So I say smile for others my friend
Smile in all that you do
Cause a smile costs nothing my friend
Its power pure & true

I don’t see it shine
All so lost in personal fantasy

Fantasy is strange limitation of mind
Wanting what you can’t have
What you can’t find
What others talk about
That feeling of being left behind
A wondering what you’re missing
What you not got
This fantasy illusion of mind
If tis not kept in check
Madness you will find
Or if you were to try follow them all
Nothing but blindness you will find
No concern or care
For the effect of your actions unseen
Unaware to what you leave behind
This world of vice is not so kind
All is foe sale in this fantasy illusion of mind
So when you go looking to for fill your fantasy
You just remember all people they do feel
So go with respect for another
Consider fully their deal
For it’s hard to swallow another’s pill
Show then love – that you also feel
